For many schools, communicating with their families and community can be challenging, particularly when it comes to conveying important messages, such as changes to school policy. After all, who wants to read through reams of text when information can be conveyed in a simple, engaging video message?
Orchard School’s attendance was below national average and deemed ‘stubbornly low’ by Ofsted, so as part of a new drive to improve this, senior leaders wanted to communicate some key messages to families. A short videowas created, here, with these key messages and visuals, and this was shared via the school’s website, social media platforms and e-newsletter. The video formed part of an overall strategy to improve attendance and now the school celebrates its highest attendance on record, which is no longer below national average.
Video has also proved an effective way of giving prospective families an insight into school life. LVM has created films for both primary and secondary schools where families can hear from current pupils, staff and families, while also receiving a ‘virtual tour’ of the school. These videos can then be shared on social media and used as part of a Facebook marketing campaign to encourage sign-ups to an open evening. Here are some examples of videos created to attract prospective families:
These videos can also be used to entice prospective staff. On behalf of Bridge Learning Campus, LVM ran a Facebook ad campaign to attract primary teachers and used video to encourage sign-ups to an information event for candidates. More than 90 candidates expressed an interest via a sign-up form. You can read more about this campaign, here.
